Will’s passion, tenacity and artistry are evident in the work. From image capture through to print and presentation, his commitment to excellence is unwavering. Motivated and inspired by the beauty that surrounds us... Will is driven to capture, during the “magic moments”, both the natural and the urban landscape in all of its splendor.

Born in Bayside Melbourne with the blue expanse of Port Phillip Bay and the coast of the Southern Ocean as my backyard, it was inevitable that the ocean would shape the person that I have become.

From my childhood days until now, the hours spent sitting quietly on a board waiting for a wave remain for me a most cathartic and necessary investment in time. As a young surfer, pre the technology of today and not knowing what the next day would bring, the anticipation of what was to come and the thrill at the sight of a great wave at first light was my strongest motivator.

How fortunate I am to be able to mirror the motivation and sensory reward of my youth with my love of landscape photography. The preparation and pre dawn adventure for a chance to capture the perfect light is filled with as much anticipation and occasional reward as my childhood years as a wide-eyed sunburnt Aussie kid.

An amalgam of careful planning, accurate weather and/or tide forecasting, motivation, a bagful of luck (most of the later, perhaps) and a beautiful photograph can be realised. The possibility of creating this photograph is what motivates but the reward is in the process… the silence of the pre dawn rainforest, the raw power and solitude of the Southern Ocean and the occasional unexpected discovery on a well-worn track is what it’s all about for me.

I recall many years ago on a long winter's drive to the surf, a friend and I had noticed the first snow of the season a top the Baw Baw Plateau over a hundred kilometres away. The distant glint of snow across the Latrobe Valley, illuminated and presented in that moment, motivated my buddy to request that we “pull over and appreciate it”… the mesmerising grandeur of nature at work.

Hopefully I have captured that for you here.
